EUROPE Bjørn Kristiansen, CEO Dr. Kristiansen is a former Professor of Bioprocess Technology in Scotland and Director of Research at Borregaard Industries in Norway. Founder, CSO and CEO of GlycaNova Ltd. Bjørn has substantial insight into bioprocess technology and downstream processing with particular focus on filamentous microorganisms and is author of more than 100 scientific papers, including books and patents. His main expertise lies in all aspects of bioprocessing, getting starts-ups through the first hurdles and industrialisation of bioprocesses. Tor Albrektsen, Medical Director Dr. Albrektsen brings over 30 years of experience in pharmaceutical development from 3M Pharma and Astra Pharmaceuticals. His main expertise lies in evaluations of pre-clinical and clinical activities according to GCP (Good Clinical Practice) and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) and regulatory matters such as product approval Knud Allermann Dr. Allermann is a former professor of Microbiology at the University of Copenhagen, specialising in physiology and fermentation of filamentous fungi (mushrooms and moulds). He is founder and Managing Director of Symbion Science Park in Copenhagen. Mr. Allermann has extensive experience with start-ups, is a member of several boards, has managerial involvement in small biotech companies and is an EU expert in Biotech Innovation. He has numerous publications including patents. Mike Mattey Dr. Mattey was the Gordon Fatkin Farécla Research Fellow at the University of Strathclyde. His research career has been in collaboration with biotechnology industries, mainly the fermentation sector and the packaging sector where he led a major multidisciplinary research group. Within the packaging sector, research on active surfaces led to the discovery of bacteriophage immobilisation and the physical and chemical methods of achieving true active surfaces. He is a scientific advisor to several companies and is the author of more than 50 research papers and books and several patents. Ib Schneider Mr Schneider has an MSc in Microbiology from the University of Copenhagen. He has seventeen years of experience at Novozymes A/S R&D with development of enzymes and antibiotics for the industry and, eight years in Novo Nordisk A/S with Quality Assurance (GMP/GCP) for the company. Mr. Schneider is a QMI certified Auditor with expertise in international approved quality systems, securing quality of production and distribution. USA and LATIN AMERICA Introducing products to markets in USA and Latin America can be a major obstacle to firms from EU. Helping companies to design a business development strategy to launch products in USA and/or Latin America is one of the strengths of EU Biotech Consulting. The First Light Ventures team are: Ronald J. Amen Dr Amen has a PhD in Nutritional Physiology from Rutgers University. He has over twenty-five years of management and consulting experience in the food, nutrition and pharmaceutical industries. He has contributed business development, marketing strategy, licensing and acquisition support, new product development and clinical and regulatory services to domestic and foreign multinational companies, as well as start-up ventures. He is a founder of three pharmaceutical companies, and a machine vision metrology company, and is presently on the Board of Directors of five start-up technology-based companies. Anthony R. Booth Dr. Booth has a PhD in Material Science from Cambridge University and an S.M from MIT. He is an expert in technology commercialization, business development, licensing, and product development. Dr. Booth was with Warner Lambert for 29 years where he held positions in Quality Control, Marketing, Pilot Plant Operations, R&D, Scientific Affairs and for over ten years, Business Development. He is the inventor of the “lubricating strip” on wet-shaving cartridges. The lubricating strip patent is one of the most successful patents ever in the Health and Beauty Aid Industry. He is the current President of the Association of Research Directors and President of the International Technology Institute. Steinar Kristiansen Mr. Kristiansen has an MBA in Management and Statistics from Louisiana Tech University. He has over 30 years’ experience in technical marketing and engineered products distribution. In addition, Mr. Kristiansen has extensive computer experience setting up applied programming systems and has designed, written the programs for, and launched several internet web sites. Mr. Kristiansen has introduced over 20 new products during the last 30 years. Most of these products required experiences in ASME (American Society of Mechanical engineering), API (American Petroleum Institute), ISA (Instrument Society of America) and OSHA (Occupational Safety Hazards Act) codes and regulations. L. Robert Oros Mr. Oros has an MBA i marketing from Rutgers University. His marketing career spans over forty years within multiple consumer product categories. His expertise resides within new product and new business development having identified and achieved commercialization for several successful entries since 1966, a number of which spawned entirely new categories within their respective industries. As New Ventures Director at American Can, he leveraged proprietary packaging technologies into new successes including the innovative “co-extruded” ovenable, disposable tray for use in microwave and conventional ovens. At Marketing Corporation of America he organized and managed the New Products Group and worked with major marketers such as Frito-Lay, Johnson & Johnson, Sara Lee and General Foods. Mr Oros assists consumer product companies to identify, develop and commercialize innovative new opportunities. It also assists inventors, entrepreneurs and venture capitalists to achieve commercialization for their Intellectual Property. Dan Arland Branch Mr. Branch has an MBA in Global Mgmt & International Marketing from Thunderbird University. He over 30 years direct experience in the international business arena, providing international marketing services with in-country business experience in over 30 nations, including virtually all of Latin America and the Caribbean, much of the Pacific Rim, Western Canada, Turkey, and the Former Soviet Union with emphasis in developing market entry strategies in those areas. His activities include the development of worldwide dealer organizations and market entry strategies for agriculture, municipal, construction, and pharmaceutical products in government and private sector markets. He has coordinated clinical trials, stability studies, registration, and the distribution of food and drug products in Latin America, controlled administrative functions including export/import permits; order processing, documentation, proforma invoices, and letters of credit. |
